Frequently asked questions
Is the app free?
Yes. Source J is free and contains no advertising and no in-app purchase. If a paid offering were introduced in the future, you would be clearly informed.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can use the app in guest mode. An account is only useful if you want to keep your thoughts, favourites and study journeys across multiple devices.
How do I change the language (FR / EN / HE)?
From the profile screen or the app settings, you can switch between French, English and Hebrew. The interface and generated texts adapt automatically.
Where do the texts come from?
Biblical, Talmudic and liturgical texts come from Sefaria and other reference libraries. Quoted commentaries (Rashi, Ramban, Ibn Ezra, Sforno, Or HaChaim, Radak, etc.) are the authentic commentaries of the tradition. Source J never modifies or invents a commentary: it presents it and brings it into conversation with your thought.
Does the app replace a teacher or rabbi?
No. Source J is a personal study companion, designed to support your reading and questioning. For any halakhic decision or weighty question, please consult a qualified rabbi.
How do I delete my account and data?
From the profile screen, choose the Delete my account option. Deletion is permanent and results in the loss of the associated history. You can also email us at appunautreregard@gmail.com.
What if the AI returns a strange or inaccurate answer?
Insights are generated by an AI (Anthropic's Claude) from strict prompts that require quoting the sources. Despite these safeguards, errors can happen. Please report any problematic answer by email — it helps us improve the app.
Is my data shared with third parties?
See our privacy policy. In short: no advertising, no tracker, no data resale. The text you enter is transmitted to AI providers strictly to generate the requested response.
